DavidoffAnother Coffee: EspressoLike no other coffee speciality the culture of espresso is celebrated from Europe to Asia – a culture where lifestyle meets pure indulgence. Nowadays, espresso has become a "philosophy of taste". The history of espresso reaches far into time. The name has its roots in Italy and means "immediately prepared by request". Unlike a filter coffee, espresso contains less caffeine due to its shorter brewing time. Espresso is often referred to as a certain type of coffee, but in fact there are no special espresso beans. Two main facts make the difference between beans used for filter coffee and beans used for espresso: the coffee blend and the roasting process. "Dark roasting" is the name of the special roasting method applied for espresso. In comparison to the procedure for filter coffee, "dark roasting" requires a longer roasting process, thus giving the beans a darker tone and an unmistakably intense, full-bodied aroma. The crema is the sign of an excellent espresso. It is the golden brown foam on top of a freshly brewed espresso. A perfect crema is the result of the right brewing method with enough pressure and temperature.
