DavidoffCoffee around the worldThe modern coffee culture originated in Western Europe in the eighteenth century, but today it is spread across the globe, albeit with preparations and consumption habits that differ by country. The term “coffee” stands for totally different aromas, flavours and preparation methods, according to the different country’s habits. In Europe and North America, it is common to drink filtered coffee: light or medium roasted for the Americans and Northern Europeans while the Southern Europeans prefer dark roasts. The classical Italian coffees are the espresso as well as the cappuccino, whereas the latter is only drunk mornings. In the afternoon or in the evening after dinner it is only adequate to order a freshly brewed espresso. In the Arabian countries, Turkey, Egypt and Greece, coffee is mostly prepared by the traditional Turkish method: the dark mocha coffee is drunk deeply black, together with the coffee grounds. A Japanese liking is the drinking of coffees mixed with Soya milk for which purpose they have developed a special machine to press out the milk of the Soya beans. The latest coffee trend, flavoured coffee, comes from America and makes its way across the globe. The Americans mix their coffee with milk and various flavours such as vanilla, hazelnut or chocolate and enjoy it during a relaxing afternoon. |
