DAVIDOFF VS Cognac is the most accessible and approachable expression in the range. Aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years, the VS offers a lively, youthful character built on fresh fruit notes, delicate apple and pear with a smooth, warm finish. It is the entry point into the DAVIDOFF cognac range, and the most versatile in terms of serve: enjoyable neat for those exploring the category, equally suited to cocktails and mixed drinks where a clean, fruity cognac base is needed. Direct, balanced and easy to appreciate.
VS means “Very Special.” It’s an official age designation indicating the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend has been aged at least 2 years in oak casks (also seen as “3 stars” / “Sélection”).
Cognac is made in the Cognac region from grapes turned into wine, then distilled and aged in oak, and finally blended (the label age reflects the youngest component). VS follows the same AOC process; its defining point is meeting the minimum 2-year oak aging before bottling.
The key difference is minimum aging: VS is at least 2 years, while VSOP is at least 4 years in oak for the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend. VSOP is typically rounder and more developed due to longer maturation.
